Statos targets 30 per cent increase in Singaporean tourist arrivals to Sarawak

JOHOR BAHRU – The Sarawak Trade and Tourism Office Singapore (Statos) is targeting a 30 per cent growth in tourist arrivals from Singapore to Sarawak through strengthening industry cooperation and promotion of the destination in the republic's market.
Statos Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Mdm Putrie Rozana Soraya Roslan said the effort was implemented jointly with Tourism Malaysia Sarawak and Tourism Malaysia's office in Singapore, as well as involving Sarawak's tourism industry players.
"This collaboration also involves the Sarawak Tourism Board, Business Events Sarawak, Association of Sarawak Inbound Agencies and Air Borneo to introduce the diversity of Sarawak tourism products to the Singapore market. "We are delighted to be working with Tourism Malaysia to bring more Singaporeans to Sarawak, as well as introduce Sarawak as a tourism and business events destination," she said.
She said this to reporters after the Jom Ke Borneo ceremony here today.
Mdm Putrie said Sarawak also aims to become a leading destination in the ecotourism and business events sector by 2030, with the Singapore market being one of the key segments to pay attention to. According to her, the currently available flight connections including Air Borneo's daily service from Singapore to Sarawak are also a catalyst for efforts to increase tourist arrivals from the republic. "We want to take advantage of the existing flight connectivity to attract more Singaporean tourists to Sarawak," she said.
"Apart from promoting Sarawak as a leisure and business events destination, we also see opportunities for cross-sectoral collaboration to expand research, academic growth and learning programmes in Sarawak," he said. She said Statos at the same time continues to strengthen bilateral ties between Singapore and Sarawak through various initiatives and industry networks.- MalaysiaGazette Photo caption: Putrie Rozana said Air Borneo's daily service from Singapore to Sarawak was a catalyst for efforts to increase the arrival of Singaporean tourists.
