Specialty & Fine Food Asia 2022
EXPERIENCE THE TASTE OF SARAWAK
SPECIALITY & FINE FOOD ASIA 2022
Singapore, 24 June 2022: Visitors to Specialty & Fine Food Asia 2022 are invited to discover Sarawak products with a wide range of authentic Sarawak products.
STATOS Trade and Investment Manager, TC Tan, said there have been multiple bilateral trade and investment exchanges between Singapore and Sarawak in the past 2-3 months since travel borders open, and the agri-food industry ranks high. Many producers’ representatives are joining us in person at the exhibition and 25 companies have provided product samples and information for Sarawak pavilion.”
Products on display include the iconic Sarawak Laksa paste, Neocrab’s delicious soft-shell crab, exotic bird’s nest, smoked Fish Sambal, Sarawak Rainforest Liberica Coffee, 3-Layer Milk Tea, Kokokam Botanical Tea, Tuak (Sarawak rice wine) and a large range of the already famous aromatic Sarawak pepper products.
Iconic Sarawak’s products in Singapore include the sought-after authentic gula apong (nipah palm sugar) and 3-Layer Milk Tea Beverages. With its sweet caramel flavour, gula apong is an appealing natural sweetener and offers a healthier alternative to white sugar as it is low GI but rich in minerals like iron, calcium, sodium and magnesium.
Another new arrival to the Singapore market is the KENYALANG premium limited-edition range of coloured rice and vermicelli products. Three varieties of Sarawak rice have been labelled and officially certified as Geographical Indication due to their unique characteristics. The coloured rice hails from the Lubok, Nibong, Simunjan and Bario highlands of Sarawak where it is produced using traditional farming methods. The rice gets its unusual colours from naturally occurring anthocyanin which is high in antioxidant and rich in nutrients.
Not all products on display are represented by distributors in Singapore yet but are export-ready and looking for interested first time import partners. Bakers and pastry chefs must try EAPPs delicious Melange Butter for their cakes and pastries. It tastes delicious and is a healthy alternative with zero Trans-Fat, 100% natural and is GMO free.
Another local favourite looking to expand into the Singapore market is RFM Global’s jam and sauce range – the Kun product range is made from Terung Asam (sour eggplant) a zesty tropical fruit native to Sarawak.
Dato’ Seri Charles Voon, Co-Founder & the President of SME Association of Sarawak cum the Council Member of Sarawak Business Federation commented, "We are grateful to STATOS for the smooth arrangement of this SFFA event so that international market will know the taste and value of Sarawak’s food and beverage products. Through this initiative, we receive quality leads as more international traders and buyers showed great interest on Sarawak. We hope more of such business matching events will be organised for Sarawak suppliers."
Chew Chang Guan, STATOS CEO added. “We are seeking more new products and exporters, with the aim of assisting them to export to Singapore and beyond”
