STATUS UPDATE & CONTROL MEASURES
In the last 3 days, Sarawak has recorded 34 positive cases of COVID-19. Twenty- nine (29) are “imported” cases. As such, the state government has come up with the following control measures to prevent further escalation of COVID-19:
FAKE NEWS/UNVERIFIED INFORMATION
Meanwhile, the committee is advising the public to stop spreading fake or unverified news on the social media/social messenger platforms. The Police and MCMC will not hesitate to act against those found responsible for doing so. All suspects will be investigated under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act (CMA) 1998, which provides a maximum fine of RM50,000, or imprisonment for up to a year, or both, and shall also be liable to a further fine of RM1,000 for every day during which the offence is continued after conviction.
